Hiring one AI operator compared with plugging into a complete AI system

Sure, You Can Hire An AI Person. That’s Not The Hard Part.

If you’ve worked out that you need someone running AI in your business rather than trying to learn it yourself — good. Genuinely. Most owners take a lot longer to get there.

But there’s a trap sitting right behind that decision, and it’s worth spotting before you spend any money.

The role’s got a name now

Job boards are full of them. AI operator. AI coordinator. AI operations manager. Different titles, same job — the person who makes AI actually produce something useful inside a business.

In the US that role averages about $103,000 a year. The ones who really know what they’re doing? Usually $130,000 to $180,000. And that’s before benefits, payroll tax, equipment, software and recruiter fees, which pile on another 25–40%.

For a small business, that’s not a hiring decision. That’s a “well, that’s out” decision.

So here’s what most owners do next

They go looking for a cheaper version of the same person. An offshore hire. A VA who says they’re good with AI. Someone part-time.

Which seems sensible. And it’s the trap — because a person on their own, however good and however cheap, isn’t actually what makes this work.

Think about what a brand new AI operator turns up with on day one.

No plan for your business. No clue which part of your growth engine is leaking. No proven playbooks — so they’re making it up as they go, on your clock, with your money. No agents already built. No idea what’s working in businesses like yours. And nobody to ask when a real strategy question comes up.

They’re not running a system. They’re building one from scratch. Slowly. As one person who’s never run a business like yours.

That’s why “just hire someone” disappoints so often. The role’s real. The role on its own isn’t enough.

What “sorted” actually looks like

For this to genuinely be off your plate, five things need to be true at the same time. Watch how few options manage more than one.

  • One: a proper plan, built for you. Not generic marketing advice — your business mapped against a growth system that’s been tested at scale, adjusted for your industry and your stage. A business doing $200k and one doing $2M in the same industry need different moves in a different order. And order matters more than people expect. Pouring traffic into a business that can’t capture leads is just an expensive way to donate to Meta.
  • Two: someone competent doing the work. Trained before they touch your business, not learning on your dime. And working from playbooks that have already worked, rather than improvising.
  • Three: the tech already built and looked after. You’re not picking tools or keeping them current. And — this bit gets missed — briefing needs to be genuinely easy, or you’ve just swapped doing the work for managing someone doing the work.
  • Four: someone to ask. Because the questions that actually move a business (should I raise prices? is this offer right? should I hire?) don’t wait for your next scheduled call.
  • Five: it gets better without you. What works changes constantly. You should not be the one tracking that.

Run the options through it

  • A course. Fails all five and hands you every job.
  • An AI tool. Three at best, and only if you supply the time and skill. No plan, no person, no playbooks.
  • A VA. Gives you hands. You supply the plan, the tech, the training and the quality control.
  • An agency. Execution and some expertise — plus a relationship to manage and no plan you own.
  • A coach or mastermind. Great strategy, nobody to do it. You leave fired up with a longer to-do list.
  • A six-figure hire. One person, showing up with none of the other four.

Every option leaves gaps. And gaps get filled by the same person. You. Again.

What we built instead

Doneverse is all five, as one thing. Specifically:

The AI-Optimized Doing Blueprint

Your business mapped against a seven-pillar growth system — built from the methodology we’ve used to generate over $200M in sales — adapted to your industry and your stage.

Your trained AI operator

A dedicated Doer, pre-trained for your industry, running tried-and-tested playbooks picked for where you actually are. They handle the AI, the content, the follow-up. You don’t learn, build or manage any of it.

The Doneverse dashboard

Where you brief and project-manage your Doer in minutes rather than meetings. It tells you what’s next and tells your operator what to get on with. And it keeps getting sharper, learning from what’s working across thousands of businesses — anonymised patterns, never anyone’s data.

Coach Grace

Business coaching on demand, built from ten years and 70,000+ coached founders. Basically our founder’s coaching brain, sitting in your dashboard, tuned to your industry and stage. Ask it at 9pm on a Sunday if you want.

Industry-specific AI agents

Built for your niche, running around the clock next to your operator, multiplying what they get through.

The comparison that actually matters

It’s not price. It’s what you’re comparing.

You can hire an AI operator for six figures. You can’t hire ten years of playbooks. Or a blueprint that’s been proven across 310+ industries. Or a coaching brain built from 70,000 founders. Or agents tuned to your niche. Or a system quietly learning from thousands of businesses at once.

No individual turns up with that. At any salary. They turn up with themselves and a laptop.

Doneverse gives you the lot for a fraction of what the salary alone would cost — because you’re not funding a person, a desk and a recruitment process. You’re plugging into something that already exists and keeps improving.
